Parade Position and Instructions

PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT OR BEFORE 12 NOON AT GROVE ROAD MEMORIAL GARDENS FOR THE PARADE TO COMMENCE AT 12.45 PM.

YOU WILL BE EMAILED CONFIRMATION OF YOUR PARADE POSITION AND ENTRY CLASS

Notice for Floats: As all floats are placed near the front of the Parade, it would help if they could arrive earlier to avoid congestion and benefit health and safety when the young children are present. All floats, which arrive late, will be directed to the back of the Parade.

Please place the enclosed sheet containing directions and your position in a prominent place on the left side of your float/walking tableau so it can be clearly seen by our judges.

Judging/Parking Arrangements

Our judges will be viewing the parade from a red double decker bus by the Memorial Gardens. The winner's names will have been communicated to the field organisers before the Parade arrives at East Holmes Field.

All winners will be invited into the arena to show off before the presentation ceremony with the Lord and Lady Mayoress of Bradford at 1.45pm. It is very important that drivers stay with their vehicles, as we need to clear the arena for the afternoon's entertainment immediately after the ceremony.

NON-WINNING FLOATS/TABLEAU WILL BE DIRECTED TO THE RUGBY CLUB CAR PARK.

Prize Giving: Shields and Medals

All participants on either float or in a walking tableau will be eligible to receive a commemorative medal.

N.B. Winners will receive their medal at the presentation ceremony; non-winners will receive their medal from our field organisers in the rugby field.

Carnival Admission Charges and Entry

Only the actual members of a walking tableau or float displays (and driver!) enjoy free admission to the carnival field. No tickets will be handed out on the day of the carnival.

N.B. Free admission to the carnival field will not be offered to parents of children on float displays or in the walking tableau.

Programs will be on sale prior to the Carnival and can be purchased from Brook Street and Tescos foyer (Saturday before the Carnival)

We are hoping that everyone will try to purchase their program prior to the carnival, which will stop the long entry queues and save you money!

2006 Programme tickets/prices are as follows:
Before May Day On The Day
Adults £2.50 £3.00
Children/Senior Citizens 75p £1.50

Insurance

THE CARNIVAL COMMITTEE MUST POINT OUT THAT INSURANCE OF MOTORISED FLOATS IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH OFFICIAL ENTRY DURING THE PARADE. WALKING TABLEAUX ARE COVERED BY THE CARNIVAL'S OWN INSURANCE. ALL PARTICIPANTS ARE COVERED BY THE CARNIVAL'S INSURANCE ONCE THEY ENTER THE FIELD.

Care of Children

We have experienced problems in previous years with children leaving winning floats after the have arrived on the Carnival field and not being kept together in charge of responsible adults accompanying them on floats.

In the interest of safety, the Carnival Committee must emphasise that it is a condition of entry in the Parade that all participating children on the floats remain under the supervision of responsible adults. Children must never be allowed to leave vehicles on the field except into the care of their parents or guardians.

Information for Motorised Floats Only

Will motorised float entries please complete and return as soon as possible the enclosed form confirming that you have notified your insurers of your intention to take part in the Carnival Parade. This is now a requirement of the Carnival's Insurers.

General Information.

We have tightened up procedures and attempted to give clear guidelines in this letter in order to promote safety and meet our legal requirements. We aim to ensure an enjoyable and smooth-running Carnival for all, and maximise the revenue for our major charities. On behalf of the Committee, thank you for co-operating in these matters.
